Well, I am now home after a fantastic Turkey vacation. Let me thank you again right now for helping make it one of my best vacations ever, if not the very best one ever. It would not have been nearly as good without all your help.
I am so sorry you missed our cooking class, it was one of the highlights of our trip, thank you for finding it for us.
Jacolyn got home last night, bringing all the rest of the bootie we got in Turkey. We had purchased a rug, a kilim and a couple of pillows as we traveled around and they look great in our house. Sami and Kenan helped us with their acquisition, they were both such great resources, thank you for finding them for us.
Just for your information I think all your hotel picks were the best for our needs and budget. I think we ended up in Istanbul at the perfect time, what with Ramadan and Bayram going on. It was great seeing all the families around the Blue Mosque sitting around waiting for the lights on the minarets to be lit so they could whip out their picnic dinners and eat together. I think Turkey has a good mix of the religious and the secular society and I hope it continues to work for them. You are so lucky to live in such a rich country.
We had such a great time and I want to tell you so much about it. From the little old man in a small village who insisted on buying us tea as we were “visitors in his country”. I am sure he had very little of his own anyway. To all the great archeological sights, many great meals- I fell in love with Turkish cooking. I bought a Turkish cookbook and am planning on cooking some dishes from it for a group of people we are going up to the mountains next weekend with for Thanksgiving weekend and hopefully some cross-country skiing. The morning balloon ride in Cappadocia was unforgettable- another great pick by you and yes the deluxe trip was the right choice, a lot fewer people and a longer ride besides. And my afternoon swim in the Dardanelles, the water was a little cool but that didn’t stop me and I must have swam for close to a mile along the shore. Good training for my next triathlon I will do here in the Pacific Ocean, but here I get to wear a wet suite.
Keep in touch and I look forward to using your services again on our next visit to Turkey- we need more rugs...
Tell Kenan Hi and thanx for the great job he did, you are right, he is the best! And so are You!
Stay Well,
